Kay Gasei

Kay Gasei is a London-based mixed media artist who was the first Soho House Artist in Residence and created in collaboration with Choose Love and Print Club for their 2021 collection of exclusive artworks. Gasei is of Zambian heritage and has grown up in London, and his work explores themes of culture and narratives both mythical and historical. He cites Francis Bacon, Francisco Goya, hieroglyphics, and the illustrator Edward Kinsella amongst his inspirations. Gasei’s work is political without being pious, sociologically insightful without being snobbish or sarcastic, and often deeply introspective whilst remaining inclusive and beckoning to the viewer.
